I've got all these beautiful blades - Busse, mad dog, CRK, spydie - by the dozen... and (other than my sebenza, which never leaves my side) - I find I use my Livesay knives more than anything else. They're ugly as heck, but the ergonomics are flawless, and for the money, I don't feel bad when they get scratched. They're nearly indestructible and steadfast workhorses.

What are yours?

I agree.I have a livesay NRGS-ex(steel blade micarta handles)that I have been using for about 3 years. It gets sharp and holds an edge really well.I think I paid 40 bucks for it.Did I mention that it has the best Kydex of any knife I have owned?I think the sheath is a $20(minimum) dollar value on its own.
I also like swiss army knives.I prefer Victorinox.I think they offer alot of bang for the buck.

The Outdoor Edge lineup offer incredible bang for the buck. Everything from the Magna to their Fieldlites.

I'll echo the vote for Livesay knives. I've got some woo's and a Sandbar Bowie. They're great knives. Can't go wrong with one of Newt's. I can't wait, I've got another Sandbar coming. This one will be satin, keeping #17 company!

The Buck Nighthawk. It is one HELL of an excellent knife for very little money.

The MOST bang for the buck????? Now let me see........
Buck 110 & 112 , The entire Outdoor edge line, Buck Nighthawk, Ontario spec. plus
line, Schrade 110 & 112 style lockbacks. A.G Russell Strikeforce (a vg-10 blade bargain)
Camillus "ka-bars" & pilot survival knife & edc knife. Gee, there's just a ton to pick from
if a fella dosen't have to have the latest one hand wonder knife to use. All of these knives
have EARNED their stripes through hard dependable proven use for not much money.

I have been trying to push Newt's stuff for years now! He is a great guy, and his company is one class act institution!

I have carried and used my UJI and my Bow Huntin' Buddy more than any other knife excpet my Spydie Delica. I rek'mnd either to anyone.

Another AWESOME knife...CS BUSHMAN!!! BUY one for each car...very worth it!

I was going to go with a Buck 110, but on second thought, yeah....I'd have to go with a Livesay myself. I have several smaller models. Edge holding is very decent. Scratch them up? No worries. Hell, they even look a little better that way. ;)

Best bang for the buck applies to most of the blades I have... Schrade Old Timer stockman, CS Master Hunter and SRK, Marbles Fieldcraft and Campcraft, Frosts laminated blades, Ericksson Mora knives, Twistmasters, CS Voyagers...
Come to think of it, that's a great justification for a new blade purchase, anytime!

Any Busse Basic, AG Russell Deerhunter, David Boye BDS drop-point hunters and folders, Buck Intrepid.

if so, then i would vote for my Cold Steel shovel (which i have sharpened). had it for 2 years and i have abused the absoloute baJEEZIS out of it. from hacking through thousands of pounds of ice and snow during the hell-that-i-call last winter in Chicago, to cutting down 3 trees (2 of which kinda fell over due to snow loading) shovelling various people out of being stuck in snow, to gardening and more. i think i paid $13 for it, and it has been by fat the BEST knife related item i have owned. comes close to my Cuda Mini Talon and my new Mnandi. i love this shovel. by the way, the review done by Fred Perrin on Nemo's site is dead on. buy a CS shovel and you will love it forever.

Obviously a shovel is a "stretch".., but I have to agree that it is probably one of the best edged tools I've purchased. I have also literally tortured mine.., and it's still ticking!

It's nice to see others than me feeling that way about Livesay stuff. I find it odd that I never see it mentioned around here. For my money, the handles are the most comfortable of any knife I own.

Maybe his prices are just too low for people to appreciate his stuff...
:)

Whenever bang per buck comes up, Newt gets a mention. I disagree his knives are ugly looking. Only in that any black bladed hacker is not going to win a beauty contest. But then pretty is as pretty does. And his knives "does" a heck of a lot. The little Woo with cord wrapped handle and cool little kydex neck sheath is great. As are all the rest. I actually think they are priced just a little cheaper than fair too. If newts stuff was say 50% more expensive, he would have a different set of makers to compete against. Keep up the good work Newt.

Exactly. I feel like I got far more than I paid for. Inexpensive enough that I won't worry if I ding it, tough enough that it won't happen, ugly enough that I don't worry about the cosmetics.

And I don't mean anything pejorative by calling them 'ugly.' Newt's stuff is classic 'form following funtcion' design. Feels great in the hand, and just screams "use me, use me!." Like a solid draft horse. Dependable, not flashy, rugged, sure of itself.

Busse's stuff screams it too, but it also feels more like a caged animal to me - Like it demands a little more respect, or it'll take a bite out of my a$$ when i'm not watching (course, that could come from the 2" slash to the bone on the back of my hand from dropping my basic on it from one inch in the air).

For a mere $106 you can get a 1/4" slab of VG-10 called the Fallkniven A-1. Certainly not underrated, but yes it has some mighty bang to the buck.

This knife is probably not as indestructible as a Strider or Busse, but I would have to say it would be on the next level? Which is good enough for 100% of us during 99.9% of all situations.

Nice kydex sheath comes with this blade. An awesome package for only $106.
