Most Used Becker - Not My Favorite

I just relized something last night while touching up my 15, it is by far and away my most used Becker. Since I took it out of the box and did some feather sticks and cut a try stick (my every knife test) it has lived in the kitchen and everytime my wife, my son or myself need a knife in the house, out it comes. It has done everything from slicing bread to opening letters and just about any other household chore you can think of.
The reason I mention it is that it is not my favorite child, my 16 is. I can not say enough about my 16's abilities while I am out in the woods, it has become my hands down go to knife, but it lives in my day pack.
So I am wondering if this happens to anyone else. I love all my Beckers, but I really have to give Props to the 15, what a great allarounder. And yes its cut alot of steak :D But still not my favorite (but maybe it should be?)

Try swaping out their positions, and see how you like them in the changed roles. I have been finding my 15 to be VERY capable out doors as well as in. Neither is meant to be a chopper, I have big blades and a mid sized axe for that, but for knife tasks the 15 really is fantastic, even woods knife tasks.

yea, I know what you are talking about, when I first got it when I gave it the feather stick test it made Shirley Tempel curls and handled the Try Stick great. I put Micarta on the 15 and like the feel.
I don't think I can go to the woods without my 16, I may have anxiety issues if I am not carrying it

The anxiety will settle after you realize that the 15 will suit u you just fine and you become more acclimated to putting it through the same torture that the 16 has to endure.

It is just a matter of time.

And you could always through the 16 in your pack for "Just in case" until the 15 shows you what its capable of.
Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the 16. it just always makes me sad when I hear that a 5 or a 15 is relegated to Only kitchen duties. They are such capable knives that I always tell people to get dirt time with them and find that out themselves.

I have no doubt that my 15 would be great outdoors. But I get so little time outdoors that I want to use my 16 if I have the chance. As such, my 15 gets used more for the simple reason that I'm in the kitchen more than I am the woods.

You sir, are incorrect. The correct answer is "I love all my Beckers, but the 15 sees the most use"

Feel free to send me your 16 for 'safe keeping' while you move your 15 out of the kitchen and into the woods ;)

My 5 and 15 are my weekend 'go-to' knives for everything (granted they are always backed up by a BK2 and Parangatang)

My suggestion... would be to buy another 15 :D and leave your current in the kitchen... then strap the new one to your hip and never take it off.

The problem with these darned Tweeners is that they're all so good!

Look, make no mistake about it, the 5 and 15 are my favorites by I loves me my Sweet 16.

I said I love all of my Beckers and I will continue to love them all, but that 15 seems to be getting all the attention.

I followed Noswads 15 30 day challenge and read his summery. And the 15 did very well with my new knife test.

I bought my 5 partly because of your praise and I am going to start showing it more love.

I just had an epiphany last night that the 15 is getting more love than others and I just may have to admit that I need to give it the recognition it deserves.

I know ;) I was snarking ya. It's hard not to give it the most use as its such a versatile blade!

My 16 is also my favourite blade. Hardly ever use it but use a BK2 every day - bizarre?

You are not alone mchipman. My favorite is my 16 as well. However, my 24 gets the most use. I have only one 15 and will never use it (autographed). Lol

My 9 is my most used, and also my favorite. Where I live I can't EDC a fixed blade, so basically the only time I get to use them is while camping (I live in an apt complex, so I can't even use them out in the "yard" since I have none).

Even though I frequently have random knives out and about in the house, if I need to open a package/letter/ziptie, my EDC gets the job 9/10 times. For kitchen tasks my... kitchen knives get the job 100% of the time.

I like my other Beckers just fine, and the 15 is good, but I see no reason to use it as a kitchen knife when I have other more specialized kitchen knives closer at hand (knife block).

So I guess in my case my favorite is also my most used. The 9 is just a great camp blade, and it goes on every trip with me.

Most of my Becker knifes are stored in a large drawer in the kitchen with my stone, oil and strop. I will grab the 5 once in awhile to do a mellon or something. For the kitchen in the sliverware drawer I have a Henkel chefs knife that is not getting any use and the 15 seems to do all of the household cutting, rope, cord, tape, boxes, kitchen duty, my son opens his popcicles with it. Just this morning when I was leaving for work my wife was using it to cut up some left over steak for breakfast.
It just surprised me how my family and I took to the 15. I have Mora's and a few Gerbers as well as Buck and Benchmade, but all of us go to the 15 when we need a sharp and I've taught myself to freehand sharpen with it too.
Great little blade  my 16 is still my favorite though :p looks like I am going to order another 15 to go in the camp box now ;)

My BK15 has become a kitchen knife . Do not get me wrong I love it . I have field tested this knife and it had its draw back . I love this knife and I love to cook . It feels right at home in my kitchen . I have a lot of excellent kitchen knives and I prefer the 15 over them all .

The 15 is a very handy kitchen/utility/game prep knife.
Mine sees a lotta use.

My 15 got a new set of stainless nylock nuts/bolts day one. Moved into the kitchen and hasn't come out since. Everybody loves it. I still have only touched up the blade once and it still slices tomatoes like a laser. My most used as well.

Truth be told, we all use our BK-15s the most, but that bad ass BK-5 is the King of slicing and dicing.

Doing a watermelon with a 5 is something that only a Becker fan could truly appreciate.
