Most Used SAK Blade or Tool

Okay all of you SAK folks. Which tool or blade do you use the most?

I use the small spearpoint blade on my Super Tinker or SwissChamp. It seems to be the perfect size for good control and works wonderfully for opening packages. The next tool I use the most is the scissors. I use it for everything from trimming nails to cutting string and those plastic packing straps.

I don't carry my SAK all that often, but when I do carry it I usually end up using the driver tool on my cybertool--whether it be the torx bit, or the phillips, or whatever. Second would probably be the scissors.

Thats' a tough one. I guess the scissors get used most. My cheesy mustache needs constant trimming. Next, I guess I'd say the Killian's Irish Red bottle opener. That tool gets used daily.

When I'm outdoors, the saw gets a major workout!!!

Definitely the bottle opener. But I've never opened a bottle with it. Hooray for ingenuity.

In order -

Main blade
Flat screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
Magnifying glass
Bottle opener
Toothpick
Corkscrew
Ballpoint Pen
Jeweller's screwdriver

but can vary by day or event -

often my bottle opener is called on for opening other people's beers without twist-off caps.

Corkscrew at parties.

Ballpoint pen if I'm in line at a bank or post office.

Magnifying glass if I'm examining detail.

Toothpick if I eat meat out.

Main blade is on top and most used because the SAK I carry is still a knife

Main blade on my spartan

... leatherman for everything else... spartan on a keychain

Indoors, it's probably the can opener in both of its roles as screwdriver and can opener. Outdoors, it's definitely the saw.

I probably use the small pen blade on my Spartan most of all. In fact this is the main reason I don't own one of the basic alox Soldier models. I really admire their sturdy construction, however I just rely too much on that small blade for cutting, scraping, fiddling, twiddling, carving, whittling, poking, nicking and all the other 1,000 things you do with a pocketknife. I could easily live without that SAK's awl, but I really like having that second, smaller blade.

Now, if you're asking which non-knife-blade tool I use most on the SAK, I reckon it'd be the bottle opener. Hick! :p

mnblade, if you use the little blade a lot, How is the shape of the blade vs the original size ? ( I am talking about the shape because of sharpening ).

There's been no noticable change in the shape of the blade. However, I haven't even had this current one for a full year yet. For some reason, I never seem to be able to hold on to SAKs for more than a couple years at a time. The two exceptions are a Classic that I got in the early 80s, and an Adventurer that I bought in 1991 or so.

I used to wear down the file in SAKS real fast, now I carry a separate file, The screwdrivers get used a lot (often for "soft" prying) the can opener is used several times a week, the scissors often, the saw and awl ocassionally, other blades not too often, I also carry a stockman which I prefer for the cutting blades.

Hola Don Luis, me da gusto ver gente de México en este tipo de foros.

Hi Don Luis, I am glad to know that people of Mexico are in this kind of forums.

The small pen blade gets the most use. The Guinness opener sure does come in handy at times.:D The saw sees lots of use in the woods.

Although it's not a "SAK", I use the scissors of my SOG CrossCut the most, and then next would be the file (to work on my fingernails with while sitting in my office doing nothing.:D).

I would have to say that the toothpick and main blades on my Tinker get used the most. I do like the phillips head screwdriver and the bottle opener but I don't use them as much. I have always been under the impression that the SAK is not really meant to withstand alot of torque and I've always been afraid that I'd break the knife.

I cannot think of any blade that I have that easier is to sharpen or maintain then any of my SAK's, be they the Spartan (my CRKT M-16 daily replacement :(,) Ranger or Champ. I guess the pen blade is my most used do to most sheeple's responses (though I love the reaction on peoples faces when I pull out the Spydies Endura when I help them. Upon request, of course. "Ask Al, I'm sure he can help you" :) )
