The NMSFNO is just about perfect for a medium/large size fixed blade. It's light enough to be carried easily on the belt yet it can do just about anything you would need a knife to do in the field. The handle allows for multiple secure and comfortable grips. The blade is robust enough for prying, batoning and hard use yet thin enough to slice. It's heavy enough to inspire confidence while using it without concern of failure, yet light enough to be wielded quickly.
The NMSFNO is an excellent study of how to excell at multiple specialized tasks without compromising too much. It's the .308 of Busse's. Yeah, there are more powerful and faster blades (cartridges) out there. But just like the308, if you do your job the NMSFNO can be counted on to get the job done.
