I'm considering getting a Coote grinder instead of that Grizzly that may or may not arrive in 4 - 6 weeks.

The motor that I think I'll get for it is a Grizzly 2 HP, avaiable in 1725 RPM or 3450 RPM. Which RPM should I get?

Also, does anyone have experience with the Coote grinders? I've heard them mentioned from time to time on this forum, but haven't been able to find much information.

Thanks,

Ryan

I love my Coote! It was ready to go out of the box. I have a 3/4 HP motor right now. It works but I can't put much pressure on the platten or I bog it down. If you can swing a variable speed motor it will be a help. If you're like me, poor, then get a step pully with a 1725 motor with the biggest HP you can afford.

I don't know of any sources for motors other than Grizzly, and I think they only have single speed motors.

Is the step pulley something I'll need in addition to the motor? I thought with the Coote you just had to put the motor on and go. What does the pulley do?

Thanks,

Ryan

The step pully just makes your grinder varieable speed ,I would get the 1750 for this reason the 3200 will be too fast and burn up your belt's on most type's of grinding especialy Stainless ane tough wood such as cocobolo, and ironwood
