The Curry fire is out! Yeah baby!  We had some local drama here for a couple or three days - a rather nasty fire on Mount Diablo. Close to some friends of ours; they were packing up for a while getting ready to evac.

And this, ladies and gentleman, is how to work a firebreak.

These guys lost some weight working this one. I've hiked some of the acreage they were working, and it's some rough, remote area. Anyway, the fire's out, several departments responded, and 300+ guys stayed on it for the duration. Lots of drama - some firefighters were being flown around by helicopter; it still took until yesterday evening to get it out. (It's still smoldering in some areas, too.) You can see from the pic that they worked a fire break using the road on the mountain; that image is a thing of beauty. Those were some really tough, talented guys. The weather cooperated toward the end, too.
When ya'll get a chance, thank a firefighter. They sure deserve it.
