Well, I'm about 500 miles West, and I'm also upwind so there should be no concerns out here. Y'all keep yourselves safe.
It may be a good time to mention preparedness: It's always a good thing to do on a regular basis. I grew up with a preparedness mindset for a couple of reasons: My folks were raised during the Great Depression, they ALWAYS saved for a day they'd have nothing available. I was also the son of the Scoutmaster, the BSA Motto :
"Be Prepared" was always on our minds. In addition, my church leaders have always pushed preparedness as an important thing. They recommend having a year's supply of things you'd need on hand. I'm a member of the LDS Church (a Mormon) and Utah has several thriving businesses that are strictly in the emergency prearedness business. One decent one that is available online is
Emergency Essentials which really has some good stuff (and some cheesy stuff as well.)
The importance of my family's preparation became vitally apparent for our then small community of Chugiak during the Alaska earthquake of 1964. If you don't know about it, it was the largest recorded earthquake in the history of North America. Destruction was catasrophic. It was a LONG time before anything became available. My family and the other members of our church in the area gave a lot of supplies to some of the poor families for a while.
Living on the coast of the Bering Sea, preparation is a way of life. We have probably 8 months worth of food on hand, and I have 5-5 gallon containers of water in the closet. Lots of ammunition on hand, and of course, several Busses.
