This is my favorite style for forging knives.

Forged using an antique file. The blade is 8" long and the bowie is 13" overall.
Iron finger guard and butt cap.

Very nice. My only concern would be the type of leather you used. It would get dirty easily from handling. Smooth leathers and rawhide seem to work really well.

Actually I have used many types of leather for wraps on knives and hawks without any problems. For "frontier" style knives, I prefer the "rough" side out instead of the finished or smooth side.
