Hi Guys

This folder was made for a gents birthday present. The handle is Sambar stag which I've dyed with mahogany leather dye, cleaned back and then sealed with Danish oil. The blade is forged from EN43 and is 100mm long, approx 3mm thick on the spine and 235mm long open. The back spring is forged from a leaf spring and has been filed along it's outside edges. The gent wanted a gun blued end cap for this folder so I've used brass washers this time, just for a contrast against all of the steel.
The saddle has planished sides and is finished a plum brown topped off with a brass rose. The finger ring has been twisted for a more appealing look.
Thanks for taking the time to look.
All comments and questions welcome.

All the best

Steve

Very nice project Steve!

I have a book illustrating how to make a similar design, just have not gotten around to it yet.... you have inspired me!

I had a copy of that book. Its a treasure on the subject.

Thanks for your kind words gents. I have a copy of Antler and Iron 2 by Gene Chapman and it is an absolute gem of a book, without which I would have never started making these type of folders. This is only the third one I've made but I really enjoy making them and how you can mix the fixtures and fittings around to make each one a completely individual piece.
I have to say the same about 2 DVD's I have on making a rawhide covered sheath by John Cohea, these have been indespensible for me and again are a real pleasure to use, Cheers John.
I'm going to the Bladeshow for the first time in June and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the knives in the flesh so to speak. If I can get the time between other orders I'm going to try and make another one of these folders and bring it along with me. I have a couple of blades already forged out, one of which is from pattern welded steel.
I'll stop by and say hello. Hopefully see some of you guys in June.

All the best
