Snake.

I really had an interest in going to some of those things and got some experience with it at The School of the Longhunter at Prickett's Fort. I still think about getting involved, because myself and some of my student made substantial investments in period clothing just to fit in.......... Then we ran face-to-face with the 'Period Police' who were more interested in how I carried my possibles bag rather than what I was teaching. Luckly the director of the Fort was a friend of mine so they could not run us off. One lady could not get it out of her head that we were Asian Martial Artists and had no business there. One fellow kept following us around wanting to talk about his 'persona' . It really did not matter whether we had a copy of a 16th century manual of fighting techniques to support what was taught, we just did not fit in the club. I know there are some really good people at these events but in my case the 'Jerks' ruined the whole thing for me. Guess we did not do 'dress-up' very well. What is odd was that the Longhunter types who do the treks and actually hunt with the period weapons were really interested in what we did. The accessing and throwing or fighting really got thier attention. Please don't judge these things by my bad experience.

Best
