Every now and then I like do one with a touch of "primitive" flair. This one is forged from 1084. The blade is about 6 1/2". I hammer textured the ricasso and spine. The guard is 416 stainless. The handle is Curly Maple, and is secured with stainless Corby bolts.

Here's a shot that shows the texturing on the spine. It's textured all the way to the tip. This was a little more difficult project than I originally anticipated.

I like it Terry!! is`nt it funny how certain things seem like they would be easy or quick to do, but when you try it, it`s a whole different ballgame....Been there!

I really like this knife of yours, you got a pic of the sheath?

Terry,

Nice work! It really seems to flow from the butt of the handle to the tip of the blade. The texturing on the blade looks good too.

Another fantastic looking knife, Terry. This one looks like it would be a great all rounder. It even looks like it would be comfortable in the kitchen. I like the rustic look.

Terry,

I have looked at this knife several times over the last couple of days and must admit that I am really liking the blend of textures you used on the blade and the handle shape and material.

At first it looked a little odd because of your usual faire that I have become fond of. When I managed to drop the preconcieved notions about what I associate with your knives, this one instantly grew on me.

Don't stop experimenting!

Great knife Terry

I would like to show more of your knives in our magazine.
Please, contact me

Terry,

I keep coming back to take a look at this one too. This is probably my favorite that I've seen from you. I remember you made a really sweet camp knife years ago, for someone in Hawaii(?), but I haven't seen the pic in a long time. Do you remember the knife I'm referring to, do you still have a photo of it?

It is good to see you here. Hope you will be a regular on the forums. Terry does make some nice knives. This is a good place to find some fine people.

Hi Jerry,

It was exactly what i was thinking about, this forum is a real gold mine for me- and yes, i will be a regular visitor, if you pardon my english

;)

Thanks guys.

François,
I am honored. Yes sir, I'll be contacting you.

Jose,
Man, you've flattered me. How did you remember that? I made the knife you mentioned back in '98 or '99. It had a 12" blade, that was about 2" wide. It was about 17 1/2" OAL. The handle was Koa that the customer sent to me.

Oops, missed a question -- sorry.

Ron,
The sheath was just finished. I'll try to get a shot. Because of the type of knife, I didn't go with anything fancy on the sheath. It's a pouch sheath with a simple border. The only thing that might be considered fancy about it is that it's lined with soft brushed pigskin.

Nice knife Terry!

I had one very similar on my table in Atlanta. I got a lot of comments on the texturing. I think it adds a lot of character!

Looking good my friend!
Nick

Terry,

Wow, I didn't remember it being that big, but I remember because it's one of those knives that when you see it you wish you owned it! :D I remember liking the way the guard swelled towards the butt, and the way the edge rounded towards the tip, it reminded me of an old kitchen knife my grandmother used to have.

-Jose

Terry, how about a pic of the knife and the sheath? Or, has it already been mailed to it's new owner already? ;)

Danbo,
No, my next shipping day will be Thursday or Friday, so I haven't boxed it up yet. Here's a quick shot of the sheath.

Like I said, it's nothing fancy. Just a simlpe pouch sheath. The belt loop is tall so the knife will ride a little lower. That keeps the handle from poking you in the ribs. It's been sort of antiqued to go along with the general theme.

Well, so far it's perfect. I haven't seen anything about this knife and sheath that I don't like. :)

Dan,
I have - it ain't coming to me!! :( :( The knife and sheath are a sweeeet package - love the lines of the knife, finish is right on and the sheath compliments the knife perfectly. Don't want a too fancy sheath for that knife - would draw attention away from it.

Terry, I am so looking forward to the two next April - you're work just gets better with every knife I see.

Bill
