I'm torn between getting the regular Queen Mountain Man in D2 or getting the Moore Maker version by Queen in 1095.

Both come in the stag version I want.

Any comments from owners of either?

Don't forget these (bottom in stag)!

Is your question related to basically the steel choice?
If so....
With D2 you have a high wear, near stainless steel that
will hold an edge for a very, very long time but is also
harder to sharpen.
With 1095 you have a steel that is quick to sharpen (real quick),
holds an edge a long time, and can also be sharpened to
a scary edge but will patina with use.

decisions, decisions... buy both!

I dont own either, but i can tell you my opinion one the steels. For a larger blade 5 inch and above, i'd go for 1095, it has more lateral strength than D2 and is also less likely to chip. D2 is perfect for EDC folders that will only be cutting. So depending on what you are using the blade for, Heavey use(chopping, batoning) = 1095. Cutting only = D2. Hope this helps

Do like I do...get them all! :D

Just curious, where are you finding a Stag one in D2?

My personal opinion is that since Queen makes both Stag & 1095 versions, I wouldn't pay the extra for the Moore Maker version.

I have the D2 (Bonestag not real Stag). I like the steel and don't find it all that hard to sharpen. The edge holding is very good. The workmanship on my particular Mountain Man is quite poor. Blade play is the worst I have seen on any knife and the blade does not snap closed properly, leaving the very sharp tip exposed unless you give it an extra push. I don't own any other Queens, so restrict my comments to my particular knife.

I have heard other folks saying about the same thing on their Mountain Man knives. I say ...Send um BACK there is NO reason for a Queen knife to be that way. Queen might not be the fastest when it comes to customer service, but the stand behind their product.
Personally all of my Mountain Man knives have be great, but I've heard stories about blade play & lockup problems. I spend my money for a good product & my god it should be.
