Sara and I took a fun class today focusing on our abundant local mushroom supply and collecting them! It was a blast and we found a load of mushrooms. We kept a lot of King Bolete (Porcini) and one elusive Chantrelle! There are a load of edible mushrooms here and i was surprised how many were safe and how few were not. We learned how to identify a load more and will be back hunting soon!

We are at very high elevation at Durango Mountain/Purgatory ski resort. Lots of fun! We collected on the runs I am used to snowboarding on.

Enjoy the pics!

The goal! King Bolete! (Porcini) These are rock solid and as fresh as can be with no soft under cap area.

We are at the mid mountain restaurant... which is cool as there is no snow! I have been here many times but never without snow. Check out our massive load of Bolete! :D The tiny one on front is the Chantrelle!

My first folder... frickie in 5160!

The deadly Amanita! I found out you can actually boil these and eat them if done the correct way... we left these were they stood!

That looks awesome!!! Those Amanita are crazy, straight out of Mario Bros.! So, no custom Ti mushroom knife?!

I've thought about cultivating mushrooms in my basement. It's just about perfect climate in there.

Now sautee some of those bad boys and serve with a nice slab of red meat!

Awesome - I mushroom hunted as a kid when Maryland was still outdoors friendly - it was one of the few times when you could use a knife all day.

Fantastic!!
Thanks for the pix, too.
werz my fricky like that in Red??????!!!!!

Mushy hunting will only get better over the next few weeks, September is when i spend time hunting them up here in NOCO. That last one looks more like a fly agaric to me, only one way to find out! There's nothing better than some satuteed CO mushrooms over an elk steak. Enjoy the haul. Brad.

Oh. . .this explains why you want to do a knife with purple hardware and green handles, lol. Perhaps you should lay off the mushrooms, Daniel. :p

:D I like it Rolf!

Thanks guys, it was a lot of fun! We have them drying in the oven right now and will be enjoying some fresh ones this evening.
