So I've gotten to the point where the top of my hair-cut is thin enough on its own to be noticeable, but I'm not yet old enough to get away with a more dignified "Sean Connery" so I've been doing a daily head shave for the past month or so. At the moment, my method is to shave in the shower, hand lathering with some shave cream, I've been using up some old GFT samples that dried out, and they work alright. I'll probably swap to some prorasso when I run out. I'm thinking a tube might be easy enough to use in the shower. Razor handle is the cheap plastic Gillette 7o'clock. Does the job well enough, isn't super close, but im not worried about dropping it, and it clears itself really well. Once done, I do touch ups in the mirror afterwards with my tech. Thayers to finish everything off. I've using a blade for a week and been using up the rest of the odd-balls from sample packs and trials. I've been finding so far that on the head they are all about the same, so I'll possibly go for a cheaper blade for that, if I can find one that stands out.

The back of my head is the toughest to do, partly due to the fact that the hair there is still thickest, but also since it lays down so far. on the top, pretty much any direction with grain neutral, but on the back ATG is just too aggressive, so I have not really been able to get super close back there. But its close enough, and I would guess that over time, I'll be able to get closer as the follicles are not compressed downward like normal, and general technique improves. I have done a couple of straight shaves in front of the mirror, but they weren't fantastic. I think I've got some keeness problems going on, not really sure why. Might also be a prep problem. either way, it works well enough to do a first pass knock down if I have to skip a day or few.

anyone else do their skull with a DE? any thoughts or ideas?

I dont shave my head but if i did, id just use a clipper on metal, never been much of a fan on shaving what you cannot see (back of the head).

Unfortunately, my clipper doesn't get quite close enough, and its tough to roll over when your skull is velcroed to the sheets! But I hear what you are saying.

Keep at it... I have been shaving my head for 18 years. You can get to the point where you just do it by without seeing it. If I shave in the shower, I edge around the goatee in front of the mirror at the sink and do the rest mostly angled against the grain by feel.

I currently only have a soul patch (from back when I needed facial hair to look older than 12) The last few years have added the age, so now I look at least 25.... I could do with out. Problem is, I have red facial hair, so I think a partial goatee would look silly, plus my wife is not a fan of mustaches. I'd be tempted to go for a doc holiday rather than a handlebar.
