Hey Hogs, Dogs, and Filthy Rats,
I received the MountainManDu yesterday in the mail. I had the pleasure of receiving this incredible piece from Bill. Let's jump right into it:
Specs for the MountainManDu:
SR77 Blade Steel
Sabre Ground
15 1/4" Overall
10 1/8 Blade from edge of slabs
2" Blade Height
.28 inches Thick
Black Micarta Slabs
Approximately 25-26 oz
The minute I held this knife, I felt like it was different. The knife feels and looks like an ultimate utility tool. It clearly specializes in chopping, but I'm sure it can easily handle different camp and bush chores. The ergos are phenomenal. Dare I say it's even better than the RMD handle. It's essentially the same design, but thicker and fuller. The blade heavy feel screams hardcore chopper. With the handle being short in length, with the blade being a .28 inches thick saber grind blade profile, and with the blade height being a full 2 inches in blade height --- this blade appears to specialize in putting a real thumping. I mentioned this in another thread, but this blade seems to fill a niche between the FBM and the FFBM. The SR-77 steel speaks for itself --- you can beat it as hard as you want --- the knife will just laugh at you for trying too hard and looking desperate while doing it.
Check out a couple of pics. I'll be sure to do a field use review in a few weeks and I'll probably set up a chop off with some other notorious Busse and BusseKin blades to gauge where it's performance capabilities are.
