Mounting fire starter to BK 11...

I'm trying to come up with ideas on how to mount my fire starter to my BK 11 sheath,Ranger bands would probably be the simplest but don't really care how they look,so any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Bend a small piece of kydex. PVC pipe will bend pretty easy as well but is very toxic when heated so gratuitous ventilation would be needed. Also you could use a wire tie down and run a Chicago screw through it.
What look are you going for and what type of fire starter?

The fire starter say FireSteel on the handle,as far as look,I was thinking about getting some cable clamps and then fastening them onto the sheath but not to sure what size to get and screw sizes? It's an idea I seen on here that looks like it might work pretty good, just not sure though. Thanks

I would suggest going to your local hardware store with the sheath. Find one that holds the firesteel relatively well and then find screws that fit that setup. The cable tie does not have to be a perfect fit if you use some elastic cord to hold it on. I wish I still had an old set up I could show you what I mean. Basically wrap the cord around the steel after it's in the cable tie and it will snug itself down if that makes sense.

I use inner tube. I usually keep a lighter and a firesteel under it. Plus you can slip your belt through it and wear it horizontal.

Somewhere around this place there are pix of the Flexxx method. Basically fold over a piece of nylon webbing and melt holes to it, then using chicago screws attach it to your sheath. I use a larger version of that on my BK16 setup with a ridiculously large firesteel.

Thanks again folks, might have to go to the local hardware store and check things out,has to be something there that'll work.

Hey Richbat.....

I refer to browsing the hardware department as "aisle engineering"...... The electrical and plumbing departments can be quite entertaining as well as productive........ Let us know how the prospecting goes.....

LOL! I am so glad that I'm not the only one who does this. I have come up with some great ideas browsing and pulling those little hardware drawers open....dzus fasteners, bushings and bearings, threaded male and female fasteners to mate....oh my! "Aisle engineering" indeed! OP: cable clamps ("P" clamps) work well, and you can use bookbinder bolts if you can't find chicago screws. Or go full custom and braze some formed sheet stock onto some brass tubing to make a "holster" of sorts. Those firesteel.com sparkers kick ass, btw. Made right here in the Granite State.

Haha, that was me this morning looking for screw options for some scales. Bless their hearts, the folks came by at least 3x asking if I need help. I could spend all day at the Ace. I intended on checking for straps for a steel and totally forgot.
Keep us posted Richbat and snap a pic of that drawer if you can!

Well tried the cable clamp trick, works ok but not satisfied with it to much,so back to the drawing board, might just end up either trying to make my own kydex sheath for it or buying one.
