Mounting the Junglas?

Is it practical to mount a junglas, sword style? I would buy a gun sling from -http://www.sandstormcustomrifleslings.com/ and the twist it so it crisscrossed snugly from shoulder to shoulder and then mount the junglas with either paracord or techlocks. Is this at all practical and safe or am i being unrealistic.

"Sword style" is on the belt, unless you're talking about some silly movie thing.

Sorry... i meant on my back. It seems it would be simpler (i have never carried a blade over 7 inches) as it would make it both easier to sit and impede leg movement or get caught on brush. If i was going to take a backpack i would strap it that.

Putting it on your back means you can't see the knife or sheath when putting it back in, and neither can you hold the sheath to stabilize it with your other hand as you replace the knife. I would suggest wearing it crossdraw or as someone said on your left hip. You could also wear it slightly below the small of your back horizontally, scout style. Be careful to carry it lower than your spine if you carry this way, as it could mess you up pretty bad in a fall.

On your back would make it very hard and downright dangerous to re-sheath.

I haven't tried it with my RTAK II (cheaper ontario verison of the Junglas but the dimensions are the same) but my Becker BK9 I like to carry horizontally under my left arm on a shoulder strap almost like a shoulder holster for a pistol. I have a kydex sheath and it works really well. The RTAKII/Junglas if quite a bit bigger than a BK9 but I don't often carry it very long, just when I go to gather wood for the campfire. The rest of the time it's hanging on the back of my chair.

Scout carry is a pain in the ass to re-sheath, too. BUT it is my preference when I am not accessing the knife too much. I suggest that you make sure that your knife carry system can reconfigure easily and switch between baldric, waist and scout. Each has their advantages.

I'm going to get a Godspeed Tactical Baldric Adapter and sling once he's taking orders again. I plan to carry my Scrapyard 1311 on my lower back, but angled downward for (what I hope will be) easy access. You may also want to try it, but in my experience the Junglas carries just fine on a belt as long as you have a leg loop of some sort to keep it from flopping around.
