Well, I've finished another one, and I have to say, Alan Longmire's gotten me hooked. These things are fun to make, and fun to play with once they're done.

This one is another mouse hawk, still not a full size.

14" handle
4 3/4" blade
curly maple handle
wrapped and welded mild steel head w/ 1084 bit.
Rust black aged finish

Full size or not looks very useful. Great job. Everytime I see one I wish I had more time to play with forging. Gotta try one of these one of these days.

Ooooh, it's a mouse? NICE!
I like cute things. :)
How does it chop and throw?
Man, I have a bad hankering to make 'hawks, but there's no forging here.

That's a very nice looking hawk. The smaller hawks are very useful for pack trips.

Thanks everyone, glad you like it, I'm definetly a big fan of the mouse hawks too, great size, and feel great in the hand.

Quint, Daizee, count your blessings, once you start making these guys, it's not stopping, they're just that fun! :D

Daizee, it chops well, went through an oak 2x2 with ease, and seemed just as sharp afterward. I haven't thrown it, I'm trying to sell it, and would probably end up messing it up somehow, that's the way I am.
