Not anymore; A.G. Russell's latest e-mailing has it for $89.

This a a great little knife. I don't think it is getting the attention it deserves!

Sal,

What are those three little holes on the left side of the handle for?

The handle has clip holes on both sides, making the knife ambidextrous.

The numbered specimens (collector series - spoken-for) that came here from Spyderco, two of which I scanned at the top of this thread, do not have the fish around the "Wegner design" label. I don't know about the ones that come from Tim Wegner at Blade-Tech. Is that where the one in the Photopoint picture came from, as standard production? The fish graphic in this case is a Christian symbol, and Tim Wegner is a Christian who publicly identifies himself as such in his business.

James, Thanks. I kinda though it was meant to be the Christian fish symbol. That's why I asked. I'll be getting one if that's the way they come.

Dean

P.S. By the way, there's a big difference between www.blade-tech.com (knives)and www.bladetech.com (?????)

Jim,

Yes my Knife is direct from Blade-Tech. It had been out of the box for about 10 minutes when I took the picture.

Blade-Tech thought they were getting numbered knives, but none came. Just as well, mine is a user and a number would make me feel guilty.

Ken,

Thank you, I do appreciate the information, however, I was rather hoping that Sal would show up and answer the question. We had a thread going about a month ago, discussing the feasibility of making left handed or ambidextrous Spydercos. Sal was somewhat less than completely sold on the idea. We sort of left the discussion with Sal promising to keep thinking about it and me promising to remind him to think about when a good opportunity came around.

So,

Sal, what are those three little holes on the left side of the handle for?

Mike

That means this knife is banned in some places because of that, not because it's too big or something. "Smallest illegal knife", perhaps? (Probably not, considering how many laws there are.)

RE: Fish symbol - Tim Wegner told me at the Blade Show that some Mice were made up with the fish symbol, but the bulk of the production ones will be without it, as is the one in James' scan.

With the fish, it actually might well be banned in some repressive places like Saudi Arabia, where any display of any religious symbols other than orthodox Muslim is prohibited.

So might this Himalayan Imports khukuri by Kumar Bishwakarma. That rough-looking hexagram on the blade is just the Hindu smith's maker's mark, but it can get both positive and negative attention out elsewhere in the wider world, where that Sword of Shiva engraved on the blade is just an interesting graphic.

Here's a page where somebody explains how the stylized fish got to be a Christian graphic back in Roman times. The hexagram as a specifically Jewish graphic is much more recent, but I'm not sure anybody is really sure how it came to be. And the arms of a cross bent at right angles only became a symbol of absolute evil in my grandparents' generation.

Knives are related to everything.

The 3 holes on the front side are for left hand clip placement. This is an "ambi" model.

The fish symbol was put on 100 pieces because Tim wanted them that way for his community church.

It was my understanding that they would all be numbered to 1000. Collector pieces were numbered up to 200. I'm on the road and cannot check. Perhaps someone can call the office and check.

I have one of the first shipping "mouse Skinners" and it first advertised as a numbered release for the intial production run.

I was then told, after I orderd, that Spydi was not numbering them, and I kept my order because I liked the design, and wasn't buying it as a "collector"

Mine is rock solid, and has the Wegner Fish design. Now I hear it may be just one of the first production group made for Tim's Community Church.

Whats' the skinny: Fish a limited production run, or what?

No big deal, enquiring minds just want to know???

Just got mine yesterday, numbered 68. Thanks James!

Last I spoke with Tim, he was under the impression that only the collectors' pieces would be numbered. Don't know the deal with the fish.

What a great little knife! It's nice to find a little knife where the quality wasn't skimped. The most useful "tiny" knife I've ever seen. Congrats Tim and Sal!

Worked with Tim at the Blade Show and it's my understanding that the Fish symbol Mice were a very limited production. If ya got 'em, keep 'em! "Mousetraps" are available also.

Mike

The handle is very solid, with all surfaces flush and smooth, and all edges rounded - not just beveled. It's about a 1/4" longer than it needs to be to fit the blade, and I think that the little bit of extra length allows the handle to reach the palm a little better than trying to "micro size" would have done.

Really, a great, secure grip for such a little knife. I really like the Mouse!

Mike
Can you put up any Mousetrap scans? My Mouse should be making his way here from Blade Tech even as I type.
Thanks

tortoise,

Scanner down, but Mousetraps are similar to the other neck sheaths I make for the Spydercos. Check with BladeTech - they may have some left.

Mike

Got my Mouse today! Got the fish on the blade (I requested it specifically) The folks at Blade-Tech were aces all the way. The knife is exactly what I hoped, time will tell but this seems like a real winner.
