A couple of questions guys. When using different grits paper on a mousepad I use a stropping technique and drag ( heel to toe) spine leading. I also use a mousepad and switch to leather or even diamond spary or paste and also use wood or both. My main question is -" why do we use the stropping stroke on this" ? ( spine leading) I had a friend ask why I don't push the blade like I do on my stones? This is just how I learned and I chase the burr and then switch grits. Depending- but I usually start @ 400 grit and end at 1500 and then go to leather/spray/ wood combo. Any comments are welcome. Much appreciated-Thank You:)

You can go edge leading on sandpaper but not on leather, it takes some practice to not cut the paper and you can have problems with gouging the edge. For the sake of less headaches stick with edge trailing.
