I recently picked up a Wetterlings Wildlife hatchet and am haveing some trouble getting it shaving sharp. I am new to the Mousepad technique and would appreciate any tips.

Thanks in advance...

Convex Grind Shapening

The trick is to get a good thick mouse pad (s), some decent adhesive and start some fine grit wet/dry sandpaper...go slow and try to finish up with a strop.

Tip:
You don't have to press real hard when you are sharpening.
(If you press too hard the mouse pad come up and kills the edge.)

Thanks guys...I've read that link of buzzbaits...I'm still having some trouble getting a good edge. I just found some 2000 grit paper...up till now I've had 220, 400, 800, 1000 and 1500. do I need to go with a finer paper or just stick to what I have and practice more?
