The hellfire and brimstone preaching video was apparently crossposted both here and in the "Whine and Cheese" forum. Another moderator or Supermod merged the thread here into a giant one called "Warning! Offensive! This thread is so offensive ..." - over in W&C.

The Whine and Cheese forum has minimal rules and can be rather rude and sometimes not work-safe. The rather civil content from the HI forum is now mixed in with less civil contributions in W&C.

My apologies for the dissappearing content.

Hey Howard, can you or another mod delete my post from that thread?

If I want something posted in W&C I'll post it there.

You should be able to edit the content of your post to remove all content.

That's the same thing mods can do. We can't delete posts either. At least not at my level. If you want to remove your post content it is best that you do it yourself.

I understand your feeling. The same thing had crossed my mind about my post in that thread.

I just went back to delete my post content out of W&C. I found I couldn't replace it with just a dot but I put in a row of dots and it changed. I noted the reason for editing as "post was intended for HI forum." While I was over there I noted that I can't edit other people's posts there. Only my own posts show the edit button. Mod powers only work in the forums the mod is assigned to.

Gotcha.

Well, I wanted the entire thing to disappear, but since that doesn't happen, I'll just leave it.

Thanks for looking into it anyway.

It amazes me that people are so upset by Christianity. Modern culture prides itself on tolerance and diversity. I along with hundreds of millions believe in Jesus as the only way. It is the central truth of Christianity, that believing in the lord Jesus Christ as the ONLY means of salvation. I wasn't trying to offend anybody and I'm not sorry if you were offended.
In fact, if you were offended, I love you, just as Christ commands. Nobody is telling you what you should believe. Watch or don't watch. Read or don't read. I'm willing to bet that at least one person felt convicted if they watched.
You have a choice to believe in the living Christ or not. No one is forcing you. But if we are to make an informed choice we need to lay out all the cards on the table, as they have been revealed.

Jesus seems like an O.K. bloke to me. I bet he would have loved some khuks, seeing as he was a carpenter and all. I have no problem with him, his fanatic followers are a different story all together. Any group that thinks theirs "is the only way" scares me.

Actually, Jesus said he was the only way. And if his followers believe him they are only doing what he told them to do. Actually, Jesus wants you to be scared. "The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom" it says in proverbs. Fear will draw you to him, but you will find that if you abide in his word, the gospels most notably (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), you will experience an incredible freedom that cannot be expressed. And the knowledge that you will have eternal life. Give the gospels an hour of your time. It may be the best thing you ever did. I know it was for me. It changed my life. Honestly.

You seem like a nice guy BennyB, and I respect nice people, regardless of their religious beliefs, regardless of the color of their skin content, only regarding the content of their character (my home slice, MLK Jr.). But you are kind of foisting your views on us, and you have already received a great big warning for your actions. Don't you think it might be time to just let you be you, and let us be who we are? Forgive my boldness, but I think that it is time to bury this Christianity thing, for everyone's good, before anger rears its ugly head. I don't want anyone to get emotionally hurt here, and religion tends to bring very strong feelings out. So please, for the sake of a clean forum, lets just settle down while we're still ahead of ourselves, and end this...kind of...unwanted evangelism. Sorry if I seem harsh, but, that is the truth. And, no offense or anything, but I am an aetheist, and if you try and convert me, I will not listen. No one has the right, even if they think it is 'God given', to say their way is the way, and that is the only way that makes sense, that is the only way that is fair and just. So, for the love of God, God needs to disappear from this respectable, intelligent forum, before lots of respectable people say things they might regret. By all means, BennyB, you are welcome here, just please, try and leave your Christian ideals at the welcome mat before entering the Cantina. If I am overstepping, Moderators, by all means, call me out, and tell me I'm a bad boy, because I feel wrong typing, but I also feel it must be typed. I mean no one here any ill. Peace.

the word fear does not mean be scared Jesus / God didn't want people to be "scared" the context of the word fear in the parts of the bible that you are quoting fear means respect not scared.

I Love Jesus - pray to Jesus daily (several times a day) asking for guidance and strength to do his bidding/will.

But when i see Christians talking the way i am seeing here it makes me wonder if they read the same bible i read - my uncle just came back to the USA from being a missionary in Romania for the past ten years. He and i study the Bible quite often; long distance on the phone and we both share a passion for helping people -

when the King returns in all his glory -‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Most Christians are always spending more time evangelizing than doing what Christ said to do - he said - feed the poor - clothe those without - give them that are homeless shelter -

so i have a question for you bennyb - how many homeless people have you had over to your house for dinner followed by a clean warm place to sleep this year? Or even just bought them dinner and maybe try to help them find a job?

"but you will find that if you abide in his word, the gospels most notably (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), you will experience an incredible freedom that cannot be expressed. And the knowledge that you will have eternal life."

that sentence seems only concerned with freedom and eternal life-- that sounds pretty selfish to me bennyb - how about helping others because you love them

Jesus said love others as you would love yourself the path of Christ is the path of selfless service to God and fellow man

may God Bless you and your family

sincerely - Eric

Let's move further discussion to the active thread on Christianity. I'll lock this one down as it has served its purpose as a redirect, and it's best not to have the whole top of the forum clogged with this discussion/debate.
