Has anyone see this? If so, what did you think? I watched it and I'm on the fence. It was just OK for me. I don't see movies for realism but some of the silliness in this movie just soured it.

An example of the silliness is after he buys his guns to enact revenge on the bad guys. He dumps them out and fumbles with a double-barreled 12 gauge....plays with the magazine of a 1911 and stares with amazement at the cylinder of a .357. Five minutes later he's a pro in not only operating the weapons...but taking on multiple bad guys in front and behind....blind spinning head shots.....geez. It was just a little much.

Aside from the comments above....it was typical revenge movie with a fair amount of action and decent shoot-em up scenes. It is worth the rent if you've got nothing better to watch.

I didn't care for it at all, a MUCH better movie that came out around the same time, was "The Brave One" with Jodie Foster.

I have "The Brave One" sitting right here actually. I'll put it on top of "to be watched" pile. Care to comment on what you liked about it?

It's just a better story to start with, but the thing that just stunned me when I saw it, was that it does not contain any anti-gun crap that I fully expected to get. No one even talks about the guns at all, they are just in the movie with no political stuff at all.

Foster is solid as always, and Terrance Howard does a great job. The ending, which I won't give away just in case, might stretch credibility a little, but I liked it.

Also watch for the guy playing Terrance Howard's partner, he's the classic "funny sidekick" and delivers some great laughs in an otherwise dark film.

Death Sentence gave me some of the same complaints you had, he goes from bullet dropping dipstick, to Navy SEAL in an hour........

I watched it yesterday. I thought it had great potential during the first half of the movie, or so, then it went downhill fast. The worst thing for me was that it just got too dark, philosophically speaking, during the last half of the movie. I hate movies that are nihilistic and/or fatalistic and just show people walking the stairs down to hell. The points about Bacon's character going from gun-idiot to John Rambo in ten minutes are spot on.

So I watched "The Brave One"......although it was a better movie than "Death Sentence," I didn't find myself enjoying it as much. It felt.....whiny to me. These revenge/vigalante movies tend to annoy me with the sudden and perfect killing skills acquired through grief and mourning.

The story was good and Terrance Howard and Jodie Foster had solid performances.

Saw it, didn't like it as much as I expected. I don't like how Bacon becomes a Swat operator in no time even though he had no clue what to do with the guns he purchased.

"Hard Candy" just went to the top of my list of freaky revenge movies to rent after seeing Ellen Page chew up the scenery in Juno. A buddy of mine saw it and said it is an amazing and truly scary performance.

I saw it. I agree on all points. By hollywood's way of thinking, we are way overbudgeting our military for training. We should pick 4 or 5 average joes off the street, shoot thier dogs, and tell them it was terrorists. War would be over in an hour and a half.
