In the recent movie Sahara, the main character uses a knife to cut the rope that is tied between their, and the bad guy's boat. It is a medium sized sawback clipoint fixed blade. Anyone know what knife this was? I am curious.

Soon after that scene, he is fighting a bad guy in a boat, and knocks a large blade from his hand- it is like a small machete, but when I looked close it seemed to have a wood or micarta handle, and was nicer than a plain machete. Any clues about that one?

I took screenshots of the knives and pasted them into Photoshop, but for some strange reason, the images I had pasted changed to what was playing on the dvd, when I pushed play. It boggled my mind. so I gave up trying to get the screen shot.

Many programs do that with DVDs or media files if you try to post screenshots of them. They just show what's on the screen, even after you have something different. After you save and close, you're left with a black box, no picture at all.

I use Cyberlink PowerDVD, the full version (not free/shareware), which allows screenshots to be posted. Maybe there's a third (or would it be forth?) party program that can do this sort of thing without needing to buy player software.

I haven't seen Sahara, so I can't help you with that.

I just happened to watch Sahara last night, but unfortunately I didn't catch the I.D. of the knife used to cut the rope between the boats. I did see another knife in a different scene a little better. It seems to be a Khirardeshi (sp?) type knife with a fairly short blade. Probably a no-name prop. I'll look at the movie again tonight to see if I can I.D. the other "Machete" blade.

Penelope Cruz in glasses...Nice.
