I got the remake of Manchurian Candidate on DVD and it is a very good movie. There are lot's of things they do different and stray from the original movie However they do stick to the ideas of Condons book. Most importantly they don't have a 6'5" Italian playing a Korean.
Anyway, to the knife stuff, Marco, (Denzel Washington) uses a kife in a couple of scenes. It looks like one of those Army issue Camillus folders from the 80's and 90's.

Everyone in the movie gives a good performance. Given the liberal control of hollywood I was surprised that the movie was not over the top liberal paranoid propaganda. There have been several spy genre films in the last few years that were really heavy handed in that reguard and it ruined the movies, The sum of all fears and Sneakers come to mind.
