Yo people. Although lots and lots of movies feature knives, in some cases AWESOME knives, I have been unable to find a knifemaker that have made knives to any movies - except Jack Crain (he's damn talented but need to work on his social skills).

Anyone out there that got a tip of some website, knifemaker or person that has made knives for movies or knows more about this?

I did some knife work for Aliens IV. Unfortunalty it never made it to the final film.

that would have been really cool!

Since i am a Mathematics major it is unlikely that i will ever direct a film but if i do, i will definitly put one of your knives in it to make up for that. :)

Brian Lyttle has already been mentioned. I think Wally Hayes did a sword, but I can't remember which movie.

At MGM's request, Benchmade made a custom Bali-Song for the new James Bond film. We know that it was filmed. We don't know if those scenes will make the final cut or not.

Benchmade is also, right now, making two custom Bali-Songs for another upcoming major movie.

It's not unusual for directors to film a lot more stuff than they need and edit it later. Between camera and projector, many scenes get deleted for various reasons.

Keep in mind, also, that many of the swords and knives used in movies are not really swords or knives. They are movie props. All they have to do is look good on film. In fact, they really don't want it to cut. In many cases, if a sword aficionado or knife collector were to look at one of these props, he would quickly discard it as junk. A United Cutlery or Master Cutlery fanatasy knife that a serious knife collector wouldn't give a second glance much less even a dollar for, can be a great movie prop. Add a spritz of spray paint, glue on a few glass "jewels" to catch the light, and you've got it. In many cases, these props are made by the studio's prop shop out of aluminum or even plastic and then spray-painted. All it has to do is look good on camera (and not even in a close-up) and last through the filming of a few scenes.

There were several knife brands/makers knives in the Jean Claude Van Damm movie "Cyborg". I remember seeing Blackjack knives and several others I can't remember now in the end credits. I think Al Mar knives were in there.

The industry standard is that two thirds of shot footage will end up on the cutting room floor.

Mr. Clark-Have you any pics of the knives you did for the Aliens movie?

Dick Patton made the knives for "Last of the Dog Men," with Tom Berenger. He also made some of the knives for "Last of the Mohicans."

I have two Patton knives, and they are top rate. Dick and Rob Patton are superb knifemakers.

In the movie Beyond the Law, with Charlie Sheen, the was a scene where he flips two boot knives and puts them in his boots. Does anyone know anything about these knives?

Randall King made knives for the movies..."Last of the Mohicans" as well as the original "The Crow". Great maker...I'm into year 2 for a wait on one of his knives.
