I have seen some of the threads about movie knives, and some about the Tom Berenger movie "Sniper". Found no one commenting on the scene in the barn when the bad guy got it in the foot with a big "toe (toad) sticker". Wonder if anyone knows who provided the knife for the movie? Custom maker or not.

IIRC is was an Al Mar design

I may be mistaken, but it was a wasp waisted blade right?
If so, then i correctly remember it as a Gerber Mark II

Not a Gerber, it was an Al Mar or one of the other companies that Brigade carried at the time. It had a wasp waist, but the handle design was polymer with grooves in it. The handle shape was pretty unique and recognizable - it came in 2 sizes. The one in the movie was the larger one. One of the identifiers was that the handle had a distinctive narrowing at the bottom, then it flared out again.

Looked cool, but I don't remember what it was made of.

He did have a smaller knife, but the knife in question was a larger aprox. 12" fat blade that he took out of the bad guys boot, and plunged it the top of the guys foot.

The "toe sticker" was a knife designed by Col. Rex Applegate in WW2 called a Smatchet. I think the one used in the movie was a Buck Knives model. There was also the Al Mar Shadow(8" model) used by Billy Zane, an Ek Commando dagger used by Tom Berenger's first scout. A Kabar used by Tom Berenger. A piece of crap Rambo knife also used by Berenger(They screwed up, because in one scene[dipping the knife into the stream] he used the kabar and the next scene he was using the Rambo knife.) Damn, I think I might have watched this movie too many times! :D

The knife used to stab the guy in the foot was a muela. I think they still make it. It was their version of a smatchet. I think the name had something to do with boar hunting.

Who makes the "muela" , does anyone have any websites where you could see a smatchet, or a muela.

Here you go: www.cutlerytogo.com/muelaofspain.html
www.thingsunique.com/boker/af578s.html .

I haven't done business with either company, I just grabbed the the closest pages that had good pictures.

All the recent Smatchets follow the same design as the Boker, whether they're Wells Creek(Buck), Al Mar, or Boker. The Boker is the newest and easiest to find.

Muela is a good mid-level Spanish brand. I think the biggest importer was/is CAS-Iberia(Sp?).
