Wow, the movie model arrived yesterday and I love it. This is the biggest khukuri I own (my other HI's are an M43 and Chiruwa AK) and I definitely have to use the choked-up axe grip. The handle is good and thick, and the blems are barely noticeable. I really like the thrusting double-edged tip and the clock gear pommel. A beautiful, sturdy piece.
The handle is thick, and I will be practicing with the grippers to ensure I can keep a good hold on this before I put it to hard use. It feels good and solid, like my other HI khukuris. The balance is excellent, and the point is very effective, and thrusts well.
The sheath design is also very good, and despite the wavy blade, I have yet to feel like I'm cutting the sheath when I draw it. The karda and chakma are excellent, as usual, and the karda is razor sharp. I like how the karda & chakma are made to size for each khukuri, as well. I bet the ones for the 30" AK are huge. I'll have to find out ;)
I hope this model becomes part of the line- I'd love to see a smaller version, like a cross with a Kobra or Sirupati. The quickness mated with the thrusting point would be an excellent combination, without sacrificing the khukuri's chopping ability.
This is one impulse buy that I certainly don't regret.
And thanks again, Uncle for the super-fast shipping and great service. I just ordered a Kagas Katne so I can have some quality HI handiwork on my desk all the time. :)
