I saw "The Mummy Returns" last night, and it got me thinking about the movie model. These have been out for a while now, and I was wondering how people are liking them after the initial "newness" has worn off. Does anybody use it, or is it just for collection purposes? How are the quick draw sheaths from the Sarki Shop? I know there were some problems with the standard khukuri sheath getting cut by the sharpened top portion of the blade.

Uncle Bill-- is the movie model still being made? Price?

Thanks,

It is not a big seller. I may have one in stock and probably won't order more. It's one of Bura's whims. He has made knives for kings and now wants to make them for the movies.

I always thought Bura's movie model looks cool - but I haven't handled one myself.

I like mine, but it is definately a weapon. The tip is very slender and sharp--great for slashing people, but I wouldn't want to guess how well it'd survive an impact with a branch. It's far more a sword than a khukuri, IMO. I love mine, but I know I'll never use it.

I have 2, one with a horn handle and one with a wood handle. They are beautiful weapons with huge handles. I wouldn't use one as a Khukuri or for a tool. They are really for show, although if you saw somebody coming after you with one of those, you would definitly want to head the other direction. And they come wickedly sharp. And they do poke right thru the leather sheath with no pressure applied. I just really like the way they look.

I have one and I have to say it's the first HI model you would want to have at a knife fight. I agree with the other posts about it's utility use. Thin blades like these are an asset in a fight because of their quickness and nimbleness. But they are more fragile and will not take impacts as well as a thicker khuk.

BTW, anyone know which movie it was that inspired Bura to make this?

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. I just saw the second one recently, which is what got me thinking about the movie model again.
