While checking out the teaser for Terminator Salvation, I started musing about a movie idea that may have a chance. With all the prequels coming out I thought maybe a couple Rambo pre-First Blood movies. Written, directed and produced by Rambo himself (obviously not starring Stallone). With the touch of realism that Sly brought forth in the fourth installment I think it would be interesting to see how, in more detail, the character of Rambo was developed. Not to mention it would make an ass kicking Vietnam movie. I dunno. What do you think? Just musing for fun.

I'm hoping a true to the game movie is made from Metal Gear Solid. Michael Bien from the future in Terminator would have made a good Snake.

I think it would be a good project. They would have to get consultants that were actually there, like Capt. Dale Dye and the like.
I noticed they did a pretty good job of BlackHawk Down. Not all the details were exactly correct but they did get the gist of it, such as the weapons the deafening sound of those weapons, the chaos, the fog of war and so on.
The tactics of the Spec Ops guys were obviously consulted by someone knowledgeable. The way Shugart and Gordon fast roped out of the aircraft and engaged the enemy with sniper rifles, which were actually the types used, a modified M-14 and a flattop M-16A2 with a couple of different sighting options on it, and small arms, looked like a Sig and a Beretta, while under continuous fire.

That would be great. Well it's tough to say as you know how these "Movie" games usually turn out to be. Can't wait to try these games though. As for a another Rambo flick that show Rambo developing in Vietnam as an elite Green Beret; as long as Stallone has absolutely nothing to do with it. No screen play, no input, and pay him to keep ideas and mouth shut. His new Rocky, and new Rambo, were terrible. Just my opinion anyway as I found those movies barely watchable. They were both far more realistic then the previous movies in the series. Reality destroyed these movies. Real boxing matches are boring. As for the combat in Rambo it was bloody and didn't hold back. Also boring. Now Tropic Thunder get right. One of the best war movies I have ever seen. Only "Saving Private Ryan" and "Full Metal Jacket" rank above that movie. Tropic Thunder mocked so many war movies I lost count. It's also likely to be awarded "best comedy of the year". It was made as a comedy it's very funny. Many other war movies "platoon" were also comedies they just weren't as funny and so were labeled as war movies. Yeah a prequel to Rambo would be awesome but not many people can direct a war movie well.

That would be terribly convoluted plotwise, and have ceaseless dialogue- if it were to be anything like the game. Plus they would probably end up having Uwe Boll direct. :barf:

Driveby is right about the movies, Saving Private Ryan. That one tried to get across the gruesome and all out violence of war. It did a good job at that, although there was some tech glitches I noticed in it. When they found that family in that bombed out town and the girl wanted to come with them and our sniper had to take out theres, he adjusts his windage by turning the objective lens of the scope, needless to say that's not the way it's done. there's others but all in all it was a good effort, I thought.
Full Metal Jacket got a good take on the soldiers apathay and drug use. And again the lack of communication and the fog of war. I also didn't spot the usual Hollywood blunders such as firing 100's of rounds from a 20 round mag. The cyclic rates of the weapons seemed to be right on, for the m-16's and the m-60's.

The whole thing of switching scopes was way wrong too. Firstly, although the scopes themselves were period-correct, they were used on different models of the 1903, with different mounts; they were not interchangeable. Even if they were, if you switched back and forth, you'd have to resight them each time. Finally, switch was dumb to begin with (even if possible), since it took time, and any sniper worth his salt should be able to get the job done at 450yds with the 2.5x Weaver without switching to the 8x Unterl.

It also bugged me when Uppham was looking through the loose Weaver scope, and although he's shown holding it at different angles, his POV shot always shows the crosshairs a perfect +.
