Movie question: Alfie

I have seen posters for a new movie starring Jude Law, "Alfie". Do any of you know if it is a remake of the 1960s film starring Michael Caine? I loved that movie and I liked Jude Law in "Cold Mountain", so the combination looks like it might be fun.

I think it is, it seems to have a similar plot. Hope they don't stuff it up like Stallone did to Caine's Get Carter.

So did I. And I didn't see it in the theater but I did rent the DVD and watch it. I actually found it to be good fun. I also found the added bit about the work that they did to make the Mini-Coopers able to do what the asked of them in the movie to be fasscinating. I also sympathized with whats her name when she said that they had to move the seat in the original Mini-Cooper S that she was driving in the beginning of the film back so that she could work the pedals. They really were that tight! My daughter, at about 5'2" tall tried the fit of one last Fall up at a vintage race at Summit Point, WV, and fell in love with it.
 
I still don't know how they pitched it. "We're going to do a remake of The Italian Job only we'll film it in LA!"
