Movie title help please?

[Ebbtide]

Boxing movie.
The hero is a young up and coming fighter whose father owes money to the mob.
He fights cause he likes it, the gym manager (Brian Dennehey IIRC) wants the kid to turn pro and fight for him.
Dennehey pays off the father's loan, so he owns the kid's dad and forces the kid to fight.
It ends with a bareknuckle fight
(trying not to be a spoiler).

fairly decent movie too. Not an oscar winner, but not bad.

Cuba Gooding Jr. is pretty good in his flick. Dennehey is a pretty hateable guy, isn't he? (I've never liked him; ever since he started all that crap with Rambo).

Thanx all. I was telling the daughter's BF (dang I feel old saying that) about the movie and couldn't remember the title.

Yeah.....Dennehy should've never messed with JR!
