I just saw Lucky Number Slevin and The sentinel on DVD. Both are extremely average. Both had stories that could have been lots better than they turned out.

That seems to be too common of a problem.

But, then too, we should remember that today very few movies are made (compared to the 40s-60s), so of course there are few good movies.

Shame, really, but since the boob-tube has pretty much supplanted the weekly night at the movies routine, we get stuck with so much drivel.

I watched V for Vendetta the other day and enjoyed it

I plan on watching Lucky number Slevin this coming week...

I thoroughly enjoyed Lucky # Slevin; I didn't find it thoroughly average, at all. I loved the dialogue/language and the presentation of the characters. The Sentinel was an enjoyable flick, although nothing too amazing. V for Vendetta is my favorite of those 3.

V for Vendetta is far and away the best of the three movies mentioned.IMHO

I just got Lucky # Slevin, and I liked it. Witty and funny. Not quite as witty and funny as Kiss Kisss Bang Bang, but still good. Josh Hartnett was better than I thought he'd be. Everything else I've seen him in he's got the dynamic of a plank of wood.

I did get the impression that it could have either been funnier, or more compelling (but not both). To be more compelling it would have needed to be more serious and less slapsticky. To be funnier, the opposite. As it is, it's kinda inbetween, which is probably where the "average" feeling comes in. Performances carried the movie a lot where the story might have languished (yes, even Josh Hartnett).
