I have had the itching to build a press ever since I used Indian George's Bertha a few years back.I finally have all the frame parts scavenged now for the power!
I have to build the frame around the cylinder, as far as clevis end or bore X stroke and rod diameter I am in need of some good advice...(ok I'm clueless)
Surplus center has some good ones http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?catname=hydraulic&item=9-7623-10 http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?catname=hydraulic&item=9-5462

Looks to me like a clevis end would be easier to fabricate into the frame, I'm not nitpicking on the price difference on cyliders once its built its mine forever :D better over powered than under too.
I think the pump is limited to this one for power and flow?

Reservoir...check

now for the power requirements...hold the laughter till the end  It seems you can get a half dead 12 HP riding mower anywhere for around 100$ this should be plenty of power for that pump,as I have no 220 in my shop. The price of running a 100' 220 extension cord and an electric motor would far exceed a hobby guys budget.I can get longer hydraulic hoses made and leave the pump, reservoir and motor seperate. The downfall is one more small engine to keep running :barf: and the lovely backround noise of an engine running. The upside is I'll have a small tractor with hydraulics for future welding fun...small front end loader!
