This is new ground for me as a knifemaker. The first is a 12" bowie blade with false back edge. This is the largest blade I have ever made. The finished knife will be 18" overall. It will have fine silver and brass fitting, complete with filework. And the handle will be oosic.

While I have done daggers in the past, this is the first without my mentor watching over my shoulder. I think I chose too thin of steel. Next time I will try 3/16 instead of 1/8. Have not decided what to do with bolster and handle.

SO, what do you guys think.

The Bowie looks great, but you might try making some big ones in the future.

The dagger looks great also.personally I like 1/8" for that sort of thing, more practicle,IMO.

I love bowies and that bowie is looking good. Post the finish knife when you can.
