This may have been brought up before, but how hard is it to attach the clip to the "butt end" of the Police/Military (ie modify myself). I love the looks and utililty of these models - but my absolute preference is for butt-end clips.

Or will either of these models ever come with tip down/up option?

Daniel.

Daniel L,
I've moved the clips from the pivot end (tip-down) to the non-pivot end (tip-up carry) on many of my knives, as that's what I prefer. On the Military, you'd be tapping into G-10 alone (on the non-pivot end) which will work just fine, but won't be as secure as if there were a metal liner under it. Basically, you need a drill press to make sure you get straight holes. Then, its necessary to have a tap to thread the holes that you have drilled. If you drill and tap carefully, the clip mod will be perfect. I've tried with a portable electric drill and no tap at first, but that turns out to be a real mess! Get the right tools for the job and you'll be modifying all your knives before long! Oh, I use a 2-56 threaded tap and I have various length 2-56 threaded screws for securing the clip.

Thanks Savman.

Is the G10 likely to have the threads stripped or would you recommend epoxing/loctite the screws as well?

All of a sudden, the Police and Military look so much more attractive...

Daniel.

The beauty tip down knives like the Military and Police is the way of opening the knife by grabbing the hole between the thumb and index finger and with a flick let the handle open the knife - with practice it's very fast.
