I plan on moving to California (Tracy) soon and need to know the laws concerning unconcealed carry in a vehicle. Here in Florida you can carry anything as long as it is not concealed. I was wondering if anyone was clear about this particular law. Thanks, Jeff

Tracy, 'eh? Not a bad city, and it's growing like crazy. Summer heat will kill 'ya, though.

As for carrying inside of a vehicle: Honestly, Tracy is hick-ville, and maybe somewhat slack on certain things, but I wouldn't take the chance.

As for unconcealed, what's going to be unconcealed?

Knives? Any size folder is OK. Fixed blades must be worn openly "suspended from the waist." Read no concealed dirks or daggers. Pistolas? Forget it.

So what your saying is I can't carry my Battle Mistress in plain sight? Say in between the seats? Or even in the passengers seat? I sure hope not. dano, as for hick-ville yeah. But the Cali heat aint got nothing on south Florida though. 110 there is like 81 here, Besides I live in hick-central right now.

Take it easy, Jeff

The CA law on switchblades, 2" or more, frowns upon carrying them on one's person or in the passenger section of a motor vehicle. The "dirk or dagger" section only refers to carrying them concealed on one's person. Near as I can tell, there's no law against "concealing" a dirk or dagger in the passenger section of your car.

Firearms ... Pretty much bad news all around.
