If you own or have handled both a MP-1 and a halftrack would you say the action is similar?
I have been looking at a MP-1 and notice that the flipper tab resembles the one on my halftrack. I have watched a million (well maybe more like 15) youtube videos of an MP-1 but haven't found anything comparing the action to the Halftrack which is what I am familiar with.

I own both. Both are great flippers, with perfect detents. And yes, their action is similar. Both use the same half-track stop pin system.

My Half Track is less fall-shut smooth than my MP1, but it is a working finish model, which often take more break in time. The MP1, being a much larger blade flips a bit harder of course.

Thanks for the reply, this helps alot in my decision.

the half track can be flipped or you can find the sweet spot for more of a "push-button" opening. both methods are smooth and addictive. the mp-1 is a pure flipper. both are extremely well balanced.
cant go wrong with either, but you should get one of each.

The MP-1 has become my favorite Hinderer. I've had 4 XM-18s in both sizes and the Mp-1 has retired them all. I have only looked at Halftracks. Their size, in every way, is smaller than I can handle with old, arthritic hands. The MP-1, however, just works for me... very well.

My MP-1 is a stonewashed blade that took 2-3 weeks of use (no adjustments, just use) to break in. Now it's perfect as a flipper, even holding the knife straight up and down. It never fails to open and lock with no wrist movement at all.
