MPT out of stock at Boker

Just ordered a MPT from Boker USA and was sent an e-mail letting me know that they would be out of stock until mid April. If you plan on getting one of these most excellent appearing knives maybe now would be a good time to order so you will get one when they come in. Is it common for Boker to run out of knives or is it that Chad's knives have become so popular that they are having a hard time keeping up with demand?

Neither, in this case. We are working out a supply issue right now, and hope to have it completed as soon as possible.
To my knowledge, that is the only CLB we have received that we cannot ship at this time. We are still waiting for a couple things, though.

Yes I know the Lord is on back order too. Ordered one for the wife but the MPT was the one I have been waiting to get. Any chance the MPT will come out with a black non serrated blade? That would be my personal preference for that knife

hm... we have em in stock...

I guess, we will not see a version black and non serrated... most of our customers, who want to have a black blade, want it partially serrated.

customers, who do not wish the "tactical" black version, they ask for a plain edge...

Excellent, will they ship automatically today or should I contact the lady at sales?.

Added to response to the black blade reply. Funny I don't think of serrations as having a self defense "tactical" (hate that word) function rather I thought they are designed to cut seat belts and cord. While a black blade is helpful in SD as it is less likely to reflect light and be less visible prior to contact. I know a few folks that would like a black blade on a plain SD blade, Chad included based on some of his posts on the topic as well as myself of course. We buy the non black blade reluctantly because it is all that is available in what otherwise appears to be an excellent SD knife. If it is the knife I hope that it is I would buy another in black should it ever become available. So if it matters at least one customer vote for a black plain edge MPT

Long Rider the blade on the PE one has a beat blasted finish. So at least it won't be so reflective like a satin finish;

Great choice ;) Let us know what you think about it.

Aloha guys,

Hmmmmmm...MPT out of stock??? Is that good or bad? Are they in some kinda "hold" or...

About the black blade PE requests...Tobias bro, you'd be AMAZED at how many requests I have gotten for such a knife. Be it a SUBCOM and it's many variants, to the Trance, and MPT!!! Perhaps awhile back, people associated "black blades" as tactical, and they usually sport a CE blade...however:

Times and taste are changing. I for one, would LOVE a SubClaw, Wharcom, Desert, All Black, and Camo Subcom with an all black PE blade!!!;)

God bless and mahalo Long.Rider and Maarten!

Chad,

In addition, a lot of "tactical" people, myself included, prefer plain edge. In general I prefer bead blasted or brushed finish to black finish on a blade (somewhat because some manufacturer's black wears so quickly). Besides, if I am in an "operational" mode and get down to using a blade, the reflective qualities are going to be the least of my worries! That said, my Emersons and my black Bokers have finishes that have worn very well indeed. The DIREKT finish really surprised me, since I have beat the snot out of that blade, carried it a ton, used it in some cutting videos, and sharpened it a few times, and it still shows very little wear. The olive lanyard and the black finish on the EDIT make for a particularly sharp looking (pun intended) combo. I think a black bladed MPT in plain edge would do very well in the market. I'd carry one "when bad things were happening," and, as you well know, there are a lot of very expensive knives from very well known makers and manufacturers that I would not say that about.

Thanks for the thought but I really like the MPT blade and handle. The well thought out design of the MPT takes precedence over color. I really like the SubCom like handle. I have never had a knife that welds itself to my hand the way my SubCom does. I could duct tape a grip designed by mere mortals to my hand and not have as solid a hold as I do on the innovative grip of the SubCom. That little sucker really does feel like part of my hand. To put that style grip on a full sized knife like the MPT is simply brilliant IMO. That the small size of the handle looks like it should make it less noticeable, easier to conceal and less tactical looking while sheathed is an added bonus

The blade in turn looks all business, again well thought out. It looks substantial heavy duty without being over weight. With serious penetration and cutting ability. Obviously created by someone who has real life self defense experience and face to face combat skills. From the looks of it I would venture to guess it rivals the Tanto for penetration. The cutting edge looks massive for this size knife. Its sharpness and edge retention ability remains to be seen. In fact all of this opinion is based on the pics and my experience with the SubCom. We will see if my assumptions and expectations are correct once I get the MPT. Based on my SubCom I don't expect to be disappointed.

Nice now what do I do with the Rib Roast I picked up to welcome the MPT into our home. Frustrating does not even begin to cover my disappointment Feels like high school when I took Suzy CreamCheese on the night she decided she wanted to be a virgin again.

Hau Kola, I was wondering the same thing. Are your knives just so hot they can not keep up with demand. Did Boker underestimate how well received your knives would be. Or is there some other kind of glitch with supplies or production

Exactly, I do think black would look really hot as well as have a functional component. But as I said I really like the functional design of the MPT more than anything else. To be honest and not to offend it is not the prettiest looking knife out there by any stretch of the imagination. Instead I hope MPT is the tool I can trust eliminate the evil that would do harm to my loved ones. I suspect that was your intent. So far I can only guess from what i can see but I suspect that you succeeded in creating an extraordinary knife for its intended purpose
