Hello Knivebrothers.
Today I took the mpt to my job as their were a lot of incoming goods which had to be checked and unpacked.
So i cut some cardboardboxes shrinkfoil nylon spanners and plastic.
Well as it came very very sharp out of the box the little devil sailed right through it without any probs and asking for more

. With the tanto tip i can cut little peeking holes for checking .

As this is my first tanto.
The only thing was a coworker giving me the eye... LMAO
Whow what's that he asked and wanted to fondle it..
When i told him about it he wanted one too. (He's into edcstuff too.)
The handle in continuous use did not fatigue my hand allthough it is small. The smart concept is that you can get a save solid grip on the knive even though the blade is ... big for a small fixed blade. When being picky with the edge is 9.7 cm 3.8 inches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edge wide and spine wide 9 cm.
As mentioned i have normal to small hands. Looking at Chad's pictures we have about the same handsize. I can get three fingers and a 1/4 pinky on it in hammer grip. In reverse Icepick grip it is even better say perfect.
For people with larger hands i would recommand a small paracord fob with two or three knots which could give extra support to ringfinger and pink. Although i think the handle still feels sturdy and save with 3 fingerfix... And in reverse fix pical it might be the savest knive with blade length in the market today.
Your handsize is nice to know for future designs Mr. Daywalker
The jimping on the spine and the finger recoil is not too agressive when you have to pushcut some nasty stuff allthough i don't think it was needed on the recoil. It does add to the esthetics of the knive in combination with the ribbings on the handle.
I also have little concerns about resharping the mpt .
As it has a recurve blade and a abdrupt tanto it will take a two step process.
I would resharpen the tanto point after "the corner" as first step and the recurved belly as step two.
I normally tend to resharpen on a spyderco 204 set . For reprofiling i use DMT stones.
As the knive is AUS 8 steel i would probably stick to a 40 degrees edge -angle
inclusive. (that is 20 degrees per side).
I'dont know at which angle it comes off factory but normally fixed knives come in this angle.??
For resharpning the tanto tip i would only use the flats on the 204 and hold the knive with the handle down so the tip matches the flats slightly upwards.
As i'm still in a learning process (but tenacious and percistand) with freehand sharpening i can manage normal edges to a decent hair shaving edge although not as sharp as they come out of the box.
I have no experience in freehanding recurved bellies
So recommandations from someone with more experience would be much appreciated. I'm hesistand about recurves on DMT's as i don't want to ruin the curve.
I fixed the knive to my belt with looped paracord and I'm looking for alternatives as the knive is so close to the body it is hard to get it out very swiftly. The small Tech Lock is to narrow for my belts and a large Tech Lock would be overkilling for the sheath and stick out to much.
I came across this:
http://www.fehlschaerfe.de/shop/product_info.php/cPath/39_49/products_id/213
Its a belt loop for IWB carry made out of some kind of rubber.
Does anyone know how they work and if this is a good solution?
As final conclusion i say the knive performed very well..
I forgot to mention that there are 2 little "knobs" at the inside of the sheath where the ricasso goes between with a click it fixes the blade in the sheath.
Very nice..
well thats all for now..
