Okay, I've been thinking about something. I'm sorry if this was already asked, but what exact was the comparison between the two D2 knives?
(Can someone post a link?)
Were both knives treated with Busse's heat treat, and then given a cryo treatment? (Or was just one of them given the full treatment, and the other given a "conventional treatmen"?)
If they weren't given the same heat treatment, would it be possible to test apples and apples, by treating 2 knives with a more "conventional" heat treat and then doing a cryo on one and not the other, and then bending?
And then, maybe doing another test with the Busse heat treat with and without cryo just to see what happens there.
Thanks.
I'm sure the test(s) was fair, but IMO, more info could be gain by performing the above additional tests, if not already.
Just a few thoughts. I hope that made sense. I had to read and revise it a couple of times!:D
Please don't take anything I wrote the wrong way, I realize that I sometime accidently offend people by overly direct questions, but I'm just trying to clarify some things for my own knowledge. Thanks.

Hello Ed,
I might be a little confused on your question. Are you talking about these D2 Tests? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322561&highlight=test

If so in the pics we only tested our knives, we do test other manufacturers knives as well, however, we do not release that info to the public. Any of the other knives that were tested were other manufacturers/makers knives made to their specs, we had nothing to do with their Heat treat or design of the knife etc.

I hope that helps and if I completely misunderstood your question just let me know

:D:D

Okay.....
You tested both knives, both had the Busse heat treatment and cryo.
How do you know that it was the cryo treatment alone that made these that much better?
What you've actually done, (as far as I can tell) is actually compare 2 variables to other companies, not one. SR knives are superior because of the heat treat and cryo treatment (right?), but what it appears to me that you're claiming is that the D2 knives are better because of the cryo treatment alone.
You wrote:
"Also some makers don't think that D2 performance can be increased by a deep cryo treatment, I think that these tests prove differently. We have done testing on most of the other D2 blades out there from many many makers and none of them come even close to this level of toughness or durability."
Please note, that I am in NO WAY saying what you wrote is incorrect, but why not try a test where you compare a D2 SR Busse-heat-treated knife with the cryo VS. D2 a SR Busse-heat-treated knife without the cryo. This test would isolate the variable that you are claiming that makes the difference!
I hope that made sense this time. :o
