While hiking today I came across more of these darn caterpillars ~

As I continued my hike a thought came to me, these caterpillars looked very bored just hanging around waiting to destroy the tree, maybe I could introduce them to some of their neighbors !

These ants were super sociable and waisted no time introducing themselves to their guests !

I left them alone as they were all getting along so well and went off to see what else I could find.
Found lots of Columbine.
A decoction of the root helps stop diarrhea. The flowers taken with wine promote perspiration, and the seeds with wine are said to speed the delivery of a child, opens obstructions of the liver, good for jaundice, relieve kidney stones. Leaves are sometimes used in lotions to soothe sores in the mouth and throat. A lotion made from the fresh root is rubbed on the affected area to relieve rheumatic aches and pains.

Native Americans used minute amounts of crushed seeds for headaches, love charms, and fevers. Seeds rubbed into the hair to control lice. Root chewed or weak tea for diarrhea, stomach troubles, diuretic. Root tea for uterine bleeding.

Also found some Hawthorn whose leaves can be eaten as survival food !

As we headed back I called back at the Ants nest to see how things were going, most of the Caterpillars had left the twig, I guess the Ants had invited them in for dinner !
