Has anyone tried to use those new Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for polishing or stropping? My wife's been using them around the house for getting stains off the walls, crud off the backsplash, etc. Seems to be very fine grit sponges (leaves very "clean" paint on the walls where my wife scrubs, assume that it takes a very fine layer of oxidized paint off) - may be good for polishing steel and stropping convex edges. Just wondering if anyone's done this before I start experimenting.

I use them to clean my Sharpmaker and clean gunk off my blades, but haven't tried sharpening with one. They r0xx0rz for cleaning, though, and the generics do great, too.

Anything that polishes should be a good stropping compound, for instance, I use mothers car polish for stropping, and it hasn't failed me yet.
