Hello,

Mr. Ethan have you ever thought about starting your own custom shop or company? I love your designs and I would love to see your knives in a different steel configuration like the BK7 made with s30v from camillus.

Thanks

If it's not broke, don't fix it:D

The point of Beckers are the quality for the price....If you start getting into custom knives, the price increases significantly.

KaBAR/Becker is like peanut butter/chocolate or bacon/anything else....a match made in Heaven

KaBar has already offered a limited run of BK7s in s30v, as well as such as D2, 440, hitachi white steel, and others.

a custom shoppe is probably not happening.

that said, hey, D2 :D

I am sure a custom shop is not in the works but I am one who would LOVE to see some sprint runs of BK's in some of the super steels.

While the BK&T line up represents an incredible value in the 1095 CoVan steel there is more to Becker knives for me.

Becker knives have amazing design and ergos for my hands. I for one would love to see the 11, 14, and possibly the "tweeners" in some sprint runs of steels like s30v, M4, CPM-154, more in D2, etc...

I would have to think that this would drive sales as they would be limited runs couples with the amount of knife nuts/Beckerheads out there. I guess there is a part of me that really enjoys the higher performing steels at times.

Obviously, I have no idea what the price point would be on these knives and perhaps its been looked at and just isnt feasible without having to charge excessive amounts of money for them to turn a profit. There is certainly more to it than I put forth in my reply here.

BUT, we all can dream right!?!

Check, check, check, check and check. The one I don't have is this "others" steel you speak of.

the cheap chinese remora steel that actually rusts. mmm.

perhaps more :D

Probably be shot for this but maybe a scandi version of the bk16 or even the 15....

Yes! I've been asking for a scandi 16 forever. I was told that Ethan isn't really a fan of scandi grinds so no dice. Still, One can dream.

No, no, no....I am one of the world' s WORST grinders.....That is NOT false modesty....I can provide witnesses......

One of the subjects that always comes up during new project meetings is Beckers in more exotic steels....Had some this week in fact.......Watch this space.......

Ethan

I would love bk 9 in CPM 3V and .20 to .25 thickness no ramp !
Bk 14 in CPM S30V
BK 16 in CPM S30V or CPM 3V

In fact I NEED them !!

Thanks for the input Mr Becker look forward to seeing what may come....like the previous post by Revolverrodger about a BK9 in CPM 3v....crap now I want those too!!!

If you want something close to a BK16 in CPM-3V, look at the Survive! GSO 4.1. Excellent knife.

I see the desire for more exotic steels, and own some pieces made in various steels. What I love about my fairly new and only Becker, however, is the 1095.

Me too. I was really excited about the BK24 in D2 and it holds an edge forever and does everything I need it to but it's just not 1095. I'm back to using my old 14. I love that 1095 with the Kabar heat treat. Excellent stuff. That GSO 4.1 looks interesting though. Don't think I'd melt my handle scales with a spindle though.

I think a "total bushcraft package" would sell like hotcakes. Knife, fire steel, sheath w/ESSE style storage pouch, sharpener all rolled into one. I know they are not hard to make, just sayin' I think they would sell. Even a limited run to test the waters would be cool.

I think the Becker line is fine as is. I'm all for making knives in some other steels, but keep 'em coming in regular old 1095, and I'll keep buying them.
