First of all, thanks to Fullflat Fullflat and P Peter Hartwig for selling me these wonderful accessories from the workbench of Mr. H Barry H Barry H ...Thank you my friends! :)

The only small issue was they both arrived at the P2.1 compound in need of hydration from their journey cross country in the back of those non-A/C USPS sweatboxes!:p

...but I gave them each a little sip of mineral oil and they were ready to go back in the game:

every deconstruction step went as you'd expect. Pure textbook CRK takedown as we're all so well acquainted with...an exercise I find very therapeutic :D

So I'll save you the pics from something so familiar...

But I was greatly anticipating how the tolerances would be on Barry H Barry H 's G10 slab on the 21. So I prepared myself for the classic blade/pivot/washer slide in. I viewed this as a litmus test of how exacting Mr. H's skills and tooling are.

The pics from the moment of truth...

It was a smashing success!:thumbsup::thumbsup:No jam-ups, no loose-goosey fitment, no pinched washers!

There is a small, but noticeable difference in weight in hand-- nothing earth-shaking.

The main differences I've noticed at this early juncture are:
1. Texture <duh :p>
2. Sound

Difference #1 is not unexpected, of course...but it was a little shocking at first to be deploying that patented CRK fluid opening/closing and feeling peel-ply G10 in the cradle of my palm and beneath my fingertips!

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't shocking <bad>, it was shocking <good> -- to me. I'm really enjoying the "feel" of Barry's handles. :D

I am a texture snob and I H-A-T-E hate :( peel ply that's finely textured like Spyderco's. It gives me that fingernails on the chalkboard heeby jeeby sensation every time my fingernail hits it :eek::eek::eek:!

OTOH, I LOVE the more coarsely textured variety, as with Barry's !

Difference #2 is really neat, IMHO. My Umnumzaan was already flying under the radar when deploying, now it's like F117 Nighthawk super stealthy with the G10 Mr. H slab installed!:cool::cool:

Even on the WC 21, the sound/vibration dampening effect of the G10 is pretty noticeable. I like it. :)

Anyways thanks for reading/looking, I hope your found it entertaining...and I would recommend scooping up these Mr. H handles off the Exchange when the opportunity presents itself....but you better be fast, or I'll snipe ya and take em for myself!:p:)

Thanks loon & thanks Seth, for everything.

It does look quite striking to see peel-ply G10 on the show side of a CRK ... the sublime and understated stylings of CRK design really classes up the G10, IMHO.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea, I realize.... but there's no denying it is a DIFFERENT look! :)

Great write up
Barry does very good work. He has made 2 Lg. Sebenza scales for me as well as scales for 2 other knives. He also works with CF. I have always been pleased with the results.

I'm curious - did it reduce the weight at all?

Yes...the difference is noticeable, in hand, on both knives.

Did I measure it?...no, because I don't have an accurate scale.

Is the weight difference enough for someone who's on the fence about a handle swap out to make them decide to change over?...IMHO, no....I've kept mine swapped out because it's different and I like the feel. I'm sure I'll swap back to the original handles when the mood strikes me. :)

I have owned the KnifeArt exclusives with CF and light the weight reduction for slacks but I don't care for CF much at all. Thanks for the reply.

you're welcome...

I'd say the weight differential would be similar to what you're seeing with the KA CF.

Was it the "slickness" of the CF that you didn't like? If so, the G10 would probably win you over...the texture is AMAZING, imho.

I hate the overall feel of CF. I also don't care for it aesthetically. I'm in the minority I know. I just don't like it as a handle material.

On a Sebenza-in general it will reduce the weight by 3/4-1 oz. Which brings the knife more in line with what I like to carry. With Ti scales it is on the outer edge of weights I carry, but the Sebenza does carry very well for it's weight. I am from Florida and my normal wear is cargo shorts and weight matters to me.

My Barry H CF scale (Sm.Seb 21) is a treasured favorite, great textured grip. While the Sm.21 is part of my EDC rotation (along with Lg.) and the Sebbies rotate in & out, that Scale has been always been moved to a new EDC Blade, and still stays in rotation. Love the grip, look, feel...

I don't get over to BF as much as I used to anymore. I used to have a service provider membership here on Blade Forums, but for several reasons, I dropped out of doing handle mods.

I wanted to thank you for posting your pictures and thoughts concerning my work! Glad you like them!
