Hi all,
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and that you will be blessed with a very Happy New Year.
How about another round, eh?
If you have been keeping track, you will have noted that
315
split the box of knives that he had received into three different groups and I was the lucky soul to receive the one that is to continue this longstanding Porch tradition. Shown below is the assortment that I received. The only thing missing is a Trestle Pine Coozie - unfortunately, I get to keep that (or what's left of it) due to one of my dogs eating it... I will be including a replacement coozie that comes from a local establishment to pass along with the knives.
Now for my selections: I gave this some careful thought as I wanted to avoid just putting in a handful of knives and only taking one or two (which is what my initial intent was). However, I feel that is what led to the bloated assortment to begin with so I decided to take a different approach. A knife for a knife in a sense - I will be taking several and replacing with a like number in hopes that I can help infuse some further variety for future rounds.
I chose the following:
- Case 6332 - I know very little about this knife, other than that I like the pattern, the size, and the blade configuration (pen, instead of a spey).
- GEC #13 - I don't have a 13 in the collection and for whatever reason, I took to this knife more than I thought I would.
- Camillus 72 - I like this knife and it is different than what I would typically go for.
- Old Timer 340T - My very first pocket knife was a 340T and it's in real rough shape. This one is not and I look forward to having intact blades again.
I decided to replace a Case with a Case, a GEC with a GEC, a Camillus with a Camillus, and an Old Timer for an Old Timer.
- Case 11031SH - I love this pattern from Case and I wish they would run it again.
- GEC #21 - New, with tube, it's an excellent working knife and one that GEC should run more frequently.
- Camillus 67(?) - I don't think this knife had ever been used before I acquired it (the patina is from me). It's a great stockman.
- Old Timer 120T - Nice full blade that hasn't ever been used. Patina is from exposure, I think, not use.
I will add the list from
315
's thread. If you would like to be added or removed, just say the word and I will make it happen. I will let this run a week or so and then do a random drawing.
