A few months ago I picked up a cancellation moose hunt in alaska with a few friends that where already going. It is a fly in backpack hunt and I usually take a large bowie/camp knife a small capeing knife and a leatherman on trips like this. The reason for a big knife is if you get dumped on a gravel bar and say you in the next few days hike 15 or so miles hunting and down something unless you can make a make shift runway you have to carry the meat and cape and all your gear out. This is okay with a ram but a moose sized critter plain sucks. so I would rather make a runway than make multiple trips packing out heavy loads hence the big knife I do not want to carry a hatchet or machete. So every trip deserves something new I reached out to John Gonzalez at MMHW who represents Ted and told him what I was looking for. We mixed a blade from one, a handle from another and with in a very short time I had a solid hard use bush knife. Now I know the blade shape is not your ideal camp knife survival knife blade shape but I got a thing for clip point bowies and believe me this thing will chop just fine it is a beast. John and Ted where fantastic and a true pleasure to deal with. It came with a very servicable kydex sheath but I like leather so here comes the Mr. Long part. I asked Paul to do a simple not lined leather utility type sheath My buddy lester was at the time doing a small tasteful bronze stud for Paul so I had him do me up what Joe and Paul now refer to as a hubcap stud for my new knife. Those little studs do not hold up a knife near as well as a big one. He placed the stud exactly where I wanted it for the way I carry on belt or pack. as a big one Well Paul does not follow direction well and made this beautiful fully lined and formed sheath that way exceeds My expectations to say the least. I have not got it back yet but from Paul's pics I am blown away. Thanks Paul and also thanks John and Ted who where fantastic in every way

No, Paul called it a hubcap. I was a bit more kind and called it a doorknob:p Nice rig. So what kind of smokepole are you taking with which to massacre Bullwinkle?:D

Nice blade and sheath!

The small block chevy of the rifle world a Rem 700 skeletonized and lightened. If it where for africa I would have wanted something with controlled feed but for a mountain rifle the rem is in my opinion more than adequate

FN is producing the controlled feed M70 again, but in the South Carolina plant where they make the miltary small arms. I have read that the QC is much better than with the New Haven guns and those weren't anything to sneeze at for the most part. My younger borther has 4 of them.

Joe Have a 375 H&H built on a CZ mauser style action and have a 275 rigby being built on an old mauser right now. If my mechanic ever gets to it seems I take up his time with door knobs . Here is better pics of Mountain rifle

I like your choice of glass, my friend! I have an old '09 Argentine DWM Mauser that has been sitting around for about 17 years waiting for a project to come along. One of these days, I want to build custom rig in .300 H & H.
