Mr. May built me a beauty

After a year and half wait, I got word last week from Mr. Charles May that I was next in the queue. I got my FireAnT earlier in the week. I can only say it was well worth the wait! I can say that I have never owned a knife this well made! The leather sheath is nice as well. You gotta love the smell of leather when opening a priority mail box, too!

So, below are couple of glamor shots. I went with S30V rather than D2 since I fish around saltwater at times. Olive green is my favorite color so that is what the color had to be for the micarta handles. The mosaic pins complete the look.

I am meeting up with my brother-in-law and two other family members to head to a local gun and knife show on Saturday so you bet I'll be showing off this little beauty! ;)

It is a nice utilitarian knife. I wonder if you would indulge me, and explain why you would wait for 1 1/2 years for this knife from this specific maker?

I go to knife shows all the time, and frequently see very similar knives on many makers tables for $200.00 or less.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I like how the mosaic pins look like the thing in a revolver, that revolves and holds the bullets:) I don't know from guns, but those pins are a real nice touch. I also like the font he used to spell out the material he used.

Ah, a new knife and the smell of leather! Good for you! Well worth the wait:thumbup:

The easy answer of course is that I was in no hurry. I also had the opportunity to communicate with Mr. Mays a couple of times during this wait period small changes (originally wanted desert ironwood but changed my mind). Lastly, Mr Mays was great to work with and he delivers a super knife.

The S30V steel, mosaic pins and the excellent grind certainly put this a cut above the pack.

LOL! That would be the "Cylinder" :p :D

I really like that knife. The lines are great and the size looks just right for daily tasks. I am very jealous and that does not come easy. :)

Flyfisher,

Congratulations from one flyfisher to another! I came across Charles May's work and visited his site just recently. This is a great looking blade -good choice on the S30V. I like the olive marcarta, and it looks like a very nice fit and finish.

Cheers, Dan

Amen to that, Flyfisher!

Good choice of steel, looks comfortable and well fitted. Feel free to post your findings when you have used it for a while!

Thanks y'all for the kind words!

I had the opportunity to use the FireAnT last night to slice up a big juicy t-bone at my brother-in-law's as we had grilled meats before watching some PPV boxing. Took no effort with the sharped polished blade edge. I was able to slice the meat right along the bone. My brother-in-law was using some serrated steak knife just ripping up his poor steak. Sometimes its nice to have the right tool for the job. :)

A very functional and good looking design for everyday carry and especially for your fishing trips.
