OK! Now I have an HI "Mre." Love the fully curved models.

Looked at the store. Not a regular model.

Looked at "Specials." Not there.

Did a search. Lots of Meals Ready to Eat.

What is an "Mre" khukuri? (Yes, tasty, etc. etc. But seriously.)

That's an M43. IMHO. Look at your keyboard- R+E keys are right under 4+3... I hit wrong ones all the time... bet that's what happened. The knife is a beaut, much nicer, darker wood than one in HI's online catalog. Nice snag. You don't want real MRE's. I've been eating them after hurricane Ivan. :(

I took a look at the placement of keys on the keyboard. The letters "R" & "E" are right below those of "4" & "3" respectively. I think that Uncle meant to type in M43, not MRE.

But who knows? Maybe you do have the very first HI MRE. Hang on to that baby. I still have the first BGRS.

Good theory, both of you.

As for MRE's, you haven't lived until you consumed C-RATS.

I think the MRE is short hand for "m43withReallyExoticwood" 'cause that handle looks like wood, but it's a lot darker than saatisal...

Both my M-43's are by Amtrak, and I _almost_ grabbed that M-43 just because it is by Sher and the handle was so nice. That's a real keeper and a great price.

i think the gelatinized fat in the bottom of the foil bag is my favorite part of the MRE.
It starts a fire going in no time!

C-RATS?
I eat spam every damn day!

Some of the C-Rations were just pretty dayumed good. The rest of them were just plain:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: !!!! :grumpy:

Guess it wasn't too bad for stuff canned during the Korean War and maybe WW II beforehand. Heaven only knows how old it really was. :grumpy: :D ;)

When I was a kid in the Boy Scouts (dayum, that was 40 years ago) we had some K-rations. Don't remember them being particularly tasty. :barf: I guess they would keep body and soul together.

You can thank drugged out Uncle Bill for the Mre type -- somehow I don't funtion quite as well when under the influence of narcotics. I've been wearing a morphine patch to keep myself drugged at the suggestion of one of the many docs I've seen. I don't like it. It seems crazy to me to drug yourself when you don't need it. I'd rather have pills available. When I hurt I take a pill. When I don't hurt I don't take a pill. Makes more sense to me.

I have one more patch to go and then it's goodbye to that therapy.

Mre, 1 2 3, do re me - whatever, it arrived. Nice piece of work by Sher, complete with "American Wood" handle.

Thank you, Uncle and Yangdu, for the plastic wrap. Sure enough, I got back from work to find the box sticking out of my rural mail box in the rain, but the plastic inner wrap kept it bone dry.

I failed to mention that ( ), the "Mre" arrived in Ohio less than 44 hours after I placed the order. :D
