Howdy all,

I'm downsizing my knife collection to stuff I use and thinking of repurposing one of my dust collectors to a camp knife. I've beat on knives but these days I'm laid back and the most I need is to chop tinder under an inch that's on the drier side but certainly not stone. I'm a trailer camper and don't need to fell any trees.

My bowie has a 13" blade, that's 2" wide and 3/16" thick. Best way I can describe it is full flat bevels forged in with the last 3/4" cleaned up on a grinder and a micro beveled edge. I'll add some pics but it's difficult to see the forged bevels.

It's pretty thin behind the edge. Not razor thin but it reminds me more of a razor than it does a Battle Mistress. Really a great knife but I'm wondering how thin W2 will hold up to tinder duty. I've done some reading and it sounds like tough stuff that smiths are pushing pretty far. Have you guys used any thin W2?

Thank you for your time. I'll update with some pics when I figure out how to use my phone.
